PARTNERS SERVICE
This new service is aimed specifically at partners (Male, Female, LGBT) of Survivors of abuse and the aims of the service are:
- To raise awareness of abuse & relationship issues
- Raise awareness of your own and partner's issues
- Improve communication skills between partners
- Offer a list of Do's & Don'ts - verbal and physical
- Offer a place to ask uncomfortable questions in safe, confidential surroundings
Whether your partner has received counselling or not, this is a chance for you to gain knowledge and support around abuse issues and fill gaps in your knowledge around abuse
Partners who choose counselling in an effort to understand the needs of Survivors are being pro-active in seeking awareness around abuse and understanding the particular issues abuse can bring into your relationship
If you and your partner decide to undertake counselling at ASCA Counselling & Therapy Services we will maintain confidentiality and you WILL NOT see the same Counsellor - if you want to share your experiences later, this will be your choice.
There are many questions which raise their heads in a relationship where abuse has been disclosed and it can be painful for both parties to discuss these without blaming/feeling blamed etc so this is a chance to ask the painful questions, obtain some knowledge and is a source of support for you
