ASCA also offers a range of alternative therapies to our counselling services. Depending on the individual needs and requirement will depend on which therapy is right for you. All of our counselling services and alternative therapies are delivered for the individual and are completely confidential. We have a range of therapies and counselling services across the North East to offer depending on your circumstances.
Hypnotherapy:
Hypnotherapy is incredibly powerful as it deals with your unconscious mind and your mind is a reservoir of strength. You can tap into this natural resource using hypnosis in order to positively influence how you think, feel and act and you can learn self-hypnosis so that you have a skill for life. If you wish, you can combine hypnotherapy with other psychological techniques such as NLP, CBT and psychotherapy to enable you to tap into your full potential and achieve success in both your personal and professional life. Reflexology:
Reflexology is the practice of stimulating points on the feet, hands, or ears (termed reflex zones) The most common form is foot reflexology. The foot reflexologist applies pressure to points on a person's foot. The foot is believed by therapists to be divided into a number of reflex zones corresponding to all parts of the body... Reflexology seeks to eliminate congestion, remove toxins, and improve energy and overall health & well-being.
Swedish Massage:
Massage therapy is the systematised manipulation of soft tissues for the purpose of normalising them. Practitioners use a variety of physical methods including applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, or causing movement to the body. Therapists primarily use their hands, but may also use their forearms, elbows, or feet. Designed primarily to relax muscles by applying pressure to them, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Lubricants can include Oil, Talc, and Massage Cream.
Aromatherapy Massage:
Aromatherapy means "treatment using scents". It is a holistic treatment of caring for the body with pleasant smelling botanical oils such as rose, lemon, lavender and peppermint. The essential oils are massaged into the skin; Aromatherapy is used for the relief of pain, care of the skin, alleviates tension & fatigue and invigorates the entire body. Essential oils can affect the mood, alleviate fatigue, reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. Aromatherapy Massage works through the senses of smell and touch to bring about specific physical or emotional improvements.
Aromatherapy/Holistic Facial:
A relaxing treatment for the face using only natural skincare products, using gentle stretching and massage techniques, this treatment can boost beauty & skin radiance and health and radiance. Starting with a cleanse of the face, exfoliation, an application of a masque if requested can then be applied for 10-15 minutes. Then a facial, scalp, neck and shoulder massage using a blend of essential oils can be administered. To finish with, a toner and moisturiser will be used to clear the skin. Great for people with skin problems e.g. Acne.
Indian Head Massage:
Indian Head Massage includes massage of the shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp, face, ears and energy balancing. It is a wonderfully relaxing therapy. The massage is safe, very effective to give, without the need to undress or use oils. It can provide relief from aches and pains, stress symptoms, insomnia, promote hair growth, soothe, comfort and rebalance your energy flow which gives you a deep sense of peace, calm and tranquillity. This treatment can be either relaxing or energising depending on your requirements.
Hopi Ear Candles:
Relaxing treatment that involves placing lighted candles made out of natural ingredients including beeswax and honey into ones ears. This is helpful if you suffer problems with your ears, nose or sinuses including compacted ear wax, headaches, migraines, rhinitis etc. This painless therapy is then followed by a relaxing face and neck massage... The candles are painlessly inserted into the ear to draw out impurities and fully dressed, the client lies down on their side, with their head supported on a pillow so the auditory canal is vertical. The candle is then lit and the non-burning end is placed gently into the outer ear passage and is turned lightly to seal it in place.
